India becomes 6th best market for Renault

Car brand, Renault has seen an amazing end of its first quarter of 2016. Its compact car known by the name, Kwid has brought 200% growth for the company in India.  Since the Kwid was launched out in the market, Renault has received 120,000 bookings and has registered around 23,000 unit sales since the beginning of 2016. All this company level growth has also helped the car brand to add onto country level economic growths. As a result of which India is now among top 5 markets for Renault.

Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers stated that “Renault India’s contribution to the group’s global revenue has also jumped sharply, with the country among its top five in the world. Renault India’s market share was up to 2.17 per cent in 2015-16 from 0.2 per cent in 2014-15. Company sales rose to 43,859 units from 4,006 units, respectively”.

Managing director at Renault India, Mr Sumit Sawhney on this great achievement said “We are now the sixth largest brand (January-March 2016 sales) in India as compared to eighth last year. Apart from the Kwid, this success was also driven by its SUV, the Duster, followed by the Lodgy. The biggest numbers are coming from the Kwid, which has already overtaken Duster’s volume, since the Duster segment is smaller as compared to the Kwid’s. For any manufacturer, their smallest car is the volume driver and it is going to be the same for Renault,”

Kwid is now among the top 10 selling cars and all the success it is followed with is quite obvious looking at the sales figures company shared on its website. To match up with recent 200% growth the company is all set with it’s planning to launch at least one new model every year for the next few years especially in India. It is in the course of launching a new automated version of Duster followed by a1 litre engine for the Kwid this year.
