Jonty Rhodes took his love and respect for our country to a next level. Naming his daughter India was not enough maybe, so he recently was seen performing a puja with wife Melanie Wolf for their daughter.
He is currently the fielding coach of IPL team Mumbai Indians. All of us Indians were swelling with pride when a cricketer from a foreign land was so impressed by Indian culture and diversity that he named his child India Jeanne Rhodes. Seeing his continually growing love for our nation through a puja he performed with all the authenticity being intact at Pejawar Mutt of Santacruz in Mumbai.
The pictures coming out in the media have clearly shown how traditionally Rhodes couple performed the rituals with pandits around them. Jonty was wearing light yellow dhoti and looked someone purely enchanted by India’s attractive aura.
His expressed his love for India by saying, “I have spent a lot of time here. What I love about India is that it’s a rich mix of culture, heritage and tradition. It is a very spiritual country, very forward-thinking nation. I really like that combination. You have to have a good balance of life,”
We can only hope that this love for India which Jonty Rhodes cherish in his heart, should remain forever.
