Kiran Bedi appointed Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry

BJP leader and former IPS officer Kiren Bedi has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry by the President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday.

Kiran Bedi was the first lady ever to become an IPS officer and served the country for 35 long years before 2007 when she voluntarily took retirement. The honoured and set to work for Puducherry Bedi said, “I look forward to giving every bit of myself to the responsibility. I am there for the benefit of the country. I am here to give my best every day, each day. I will give it my best, very holistically and very comprehensively, because my approach has always been that every department that is a part of the government has a meaning. If you ask me about security and women, for me every department will get equal attention. I will inspire people to give their best. That’s the way I’ve worked all through… My work has always been on people-centric services. “

Thanking the government for showing trust in her and electing her as the new Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry she said, “I am grateful for the government’s decision. They trusted me.”

The chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal took it to twitter to congratulate the 66 year old. He tweeted, “My best wishes to Kiran Didi for this new role.”

But as they say with glory comes opposition. Kiran bedi appointed as lieutenant governor of Puducherry is highly being opposed by the JD(U). The Party General Secretary KC Tyagi in his statement said, “Kiran Bedi’s appointment is a political appointment. She had fought last Delhi elections as CM candidate of BJP. Such political appointments are made to serve the interest of the ruling party. They are first appointed and then misused. Even during Congress time in past political appointments were made. Then we and BJP used to oppose it together. Now these appointments are being made by the BJP as well, when it has become the ruling party.”
