Pakistan High Commissioner: Nawaz Sharif Wants to Improve India-Pakistan Relations

Nawaz Sharif India-Pakistan Relations

I think media in Pakistan is more free and independent than India. Sometimes we are also surprised about it. Earlier, no one heard of an ex-army chief being summoned to the court. Now it is happening (referring to General Pervez Musharraf). So, there has been a lot of changes happening in Pakistan, but the problem is, which I do not want to say, that in India there is a big propaganda which conceals this truth.

Abdul Baist, Pakistan High Commissioner to India, on 29th October said there is no disconnect between Pakistan government and its army. He further added that Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is desirous in improving and bettering India – Pakistan relation. The statement was made by Pakistani high commissioner at an interaction organized by Karnataka Urdu Academy.

In the words of Abdul Baist “There is no disconnect between (Pakistan) Army and government. You should listen to the voice of our Prime Minister who is wanting to improve ties with India, and jointly solve problems dogging both the countries.”

During the speech Baist also appealed Indian masses to ignore the words emanating the disconnect between Pakistani Government and army. However, he also shed lights on government policies, which are formed on the basis of information gathered by the security and intelligence agencies.

The Pakistan high Commissioner in his speech said “I think media in Pakistan is more free and independent than India. Sometimes we are also surprised about it. Earlier, no one heard of an ex-army chief being summoned to the court. Now it is happening (referring to General Pervez Musharraf). So, there has been a lot of changes happening in Pakistan, but the problem is, which I do not want to say, that in India there is a big propaganda which conceals this truth.”

Baist by these words pointed the Indian media, which hides the truth of rising democracy of Pakistan – the country boasts of having free and independent media and judiciary.

Baist said there are handful people who are opposing the improvement in relation of both the country, but at the same time there are more than millions who are eager for the better relation.

On Geeta, the deaf mute girl accidentally crossed the border to Pakistan around 15 years back and recently returned to India on 26th October, High Commissioner mentioned that Geeta is not only a daughter of India but also of Pakistan and hoped that she finds her family soon.

Geeta was sitting alone in Samjhuauta Express, at that she was just seven years old, she was found by the Pakistani rangers nearly 15 years back at Lahore Station. Since then, was adopted by Edhi Foundation’s Bilquees Edhi and lived with her in Karachi.
