Despite facing bitter criticism for his fancy overseas tours, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to rise above all hostilities. Turning a blind eye towards critics, PM Modi has set out on a 6-day trip to Europe, where he’ll be visiting Russia, Germany, Spain and France. The idea behind this trip is to strike profitable relations with developing nations and boosting our country’s economic engagement.

What has Modi done in Germany?

The PM arrived in Germany this morning, where he had two bilateral meetings with German president Frank Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Both Merkel and Modi will chart out a roadmap of cooperation, taking into consideration national security, investment, trade, science and technology, urban infrastructure, counter-terrorism, skill development, civil aviation, railways, alternate medicine and clean energy.

On his two day visit to Germany (29-30 May) PM Modi will attend the fourth IGC (India Germany Intergovernmental Consultations). Knowing that Germany is world-leader in investment, trade and technology, forming business relations with both countries will strengthen our investment ties.

What will the Indian Prime Minister do in Spain?

Spain is next bigger destination on Modi’s bucket list. On his trip to Spain from 30th to 31st May, Modi will pay a visit to King Felipe VI and President Mariano Rajoy. The leaders will make efforts to deepen their bilateral and investment ties by collaborating on renewable energy, tourism, digital economy, defense and smart city project. Likewise, Modi will talk to top Spanish CEOs in a bid to involve them in ‘Make in India’ initiative.

What are PM Narendra Modi’s plans regarding France Trip?

A two-day visit to France will stretch over 2nd and 3rd June, wherein PM Modi will have a meeting with Mr. Emmanuel Macron, the newly appointed president of France. Out of all the countries, France is the most important strategic partner of India. France is world- leaders in space, defense, nuclear and renewable energy, railways and urban development sectors. This collaboration will be mutually beneficial for both the countries. The prime ministers will be discussing on global issues pertaining to India’s permanent membership in the UN Security Council, multilateral export control regime, international solar alliance and climate change.

NaMo plans it Big in Russia!

Compared to other countries, Russia has always had an inclination towards India. Both countries have backed each other on several occasions. To strengthen this bond further, the PM will be visiting St. Petersburg to attend 18th India-Russia Annual Summit from 31st May to 2nd June.

He’ll address a gathering at the SPIEF (St. Petersburg International Economic Forum). India is the guest country at SPIEF this year whereas PM Modi is the ‘guest of honor’. The countries will discuss the future of their economic ties in Russia.
