Rajasthan Govt to establish multiple skill training centres to fill the gap between ‘education’ and ‘employment’

We are dreamers of tomorrow. We are the youth. Franklin D. Roosevelt aptly said,
“We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can always build our youth for the future”

With 356 million 10-24 year-olds, India has the world’s largest youth population despite having a smaller population than China, a UN report says. Developing countries like India with large youth populations could see their economies soar, provided they invest heavily in young people’s education and health and protect their rights. There lies a big gap between education and employment in India. The youth is being educated but is not employed. This is where ‘skill development’ comes in. The youth is not skill developed. Skill development is very crucial for the development of youth, resulting in the development of the country. Education that is provided in the schools and colleges is everything that the books say. Only theoretical knowledge is not enough for the youth to do wonders.

Young people are the innovators, creators, builders and leaders of the future. But they can transform the future only if they have skills, health, decision-making, and real choices in life. Prime Minister Narendra Modi once said, “The more we give importance to skill development, the more competent will be our youth.”

Rajasthan was one of the first states in the country to set up a Skill Mission, Rajasthan Mission on Livelihoods (RMoL) in 2004.

The efforts of State Government in execution of skill development programmes were recognized in Summit-cum-Awards on Skill India 2014-15, organised by ASSOCHAM India and sponsored by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GOI, in which RSLDC was awarded Gold Trophy in the award category of Best State in Skill Development.

Taking this a step ahead, Rajasthan government has signed a MoU with strategic investment firm Rise India, to set up large state-of-the-art driving training centres in the state. Under this MoU, skills training in Allied Healthcare, spa and wellness, nutrition, health education, agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry will be provided. Reportedly, the Rajasthan government will help this organisation to set up various skill development centres in different districts like, Jaipur, Udaipur, Sikar, Bikaner, Jahalwar and Bharatpur. Rise India, through its unit RVS Rise, would set up centres of excellence to impart training in Agriculture, Horticulture, Dairy Technology and Animal Husbandry across the state in partnership with Department of Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship (DSEE).

At the centres, candidates would be given training in soft skills, basic financial skills and IT skills. This will help the youth of the state to become more independent and earn a livelihood for self.

“Rajasthan has a pulsating industry with a huge demand for skilled workforce. Together with the state Government, Rise India will be developing a strong network of skill centres, equipped with cutting-edge technology, to provide employable skilled youth to the industry,” Ajay Chhanagni, CEO, Rise India said.
