Resurgent Rajasthan: Rajasthan Government signs MOUs worth 12,117.29 Crores

The Raje Government in Rajasthan is making an all-encompassing effort to lure investors to the State, something that was thoroughly neglected by the previous Congress Government. CM Vasundhara Raje created a strong roadmap the State based on the Rajasthan model of development anchored around three pillars: – social justice, job creation and effective governance. CM Raje believes in the idea that “we don’t live in an economy, but in a society.” Similarly, for Resurgence in Rajasthan, instead of following the usual routine of a single day event of signing MOUs, CM Vasundhara Raje gave a complete makeover to the Rajasthan Investment Summit. Calling it a Partnership Summit, it was organized to galvanize the investment atmosphere of the State. The event marked the beginning of several partnerships and a new era of development in Rajasthan where the Government set out on a mission to build strong and long-term relationships with business and industry sectors that would add to the progress of the State.

A milestone in this journey towards Mission ‘Make in Rajasthan’, the Rajasthan Government added more partnerships after a very successful Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit. 51 new MoUs (Memoranda of Understanding) for projects worth over Rs 11,531 crores were signed by the Rajasthan Government with a promise of providing over 26,678 jobs in the sectors of agriculture, industry, urban development and housing, mining and tourism. The investments range from manufacturing to automotive, tourism to affordable housing, dairy farming to city gas distribution. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje headed the event and accompanying her were Industries Minister Gajendra Singh, the Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini, the Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge) Krishnendra Kaur, the Minister of State for Mines (Independent Charge) Raj Kumar Rinwa and Chief Secretary, C.S. Rajan.

Chief Secretary C. S. Rajan shared that out of the 358 MoUs signed during the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit in November last year, investors in 285 cases had indicated their land requirement and land has already been identified for 239 projects. Land allotment or land conversion has already happened for a large number of these. The intent to acquire and convert land for projects shows that these investors are serious in putting up the projects.

The projects for which MoUs were signed on this day are likely to generate employment for over 25,000 people across the state, to be completed in partnership with the diverse Government Departments like Industries, Urban Development and Housing, Mines, Tourism, Agriculture and Mining as well as Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO).

Addressing the gathering, CM Raje informed,

During the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit, we signed 295 MoUs amounting to Rs 3.21 lakh crores cutting across sectors. Our aim is to keep the momentum going and continue to facilitate investment in the state.” and that to “To strengthen the support being extended to the investor community, a diligent review mechanism has been established at all levels. Ours is a commitment to handhold the project throughout the investment lifecycle. Also how all our efforts are targeted towards securing the objectives of our development model – social justice, effective governance and job creation.”

Chief Minister Raje also mentioned that she personally monitors the progress and status of these projects. She added that the aim of the Government is to strengthen support and ease bottlenecks for faster implementation. She said that while the task of getting investors to the state was difficult, to be able to take it to the next level – grounding projects, keeping faith and saving time is another big challenge. She showed her commitment to support the Startups of the State and make Rajasthan the next Start-up hub in three years.

Other than discussing the new MoUs the government is signing, CM Raje also took this opportunity to congratulate the efficient and successful consultation meetings with the investors that led to an unexpected outcome. She expressed happiness on the fact that Investments were no longer zone centric – “We’ve gone from district to district, division to division, state to state, country to country”, she said. Projects were proposed for cities like Kota, Baran, Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur, Kishangarn, Jodhpur, Pushkar, Masuda (Ajmer district), Chittorgarh, Mordi (Banswara district), Jaipur, Bikaner, Alwar, Neemrana, and many others.

The main projects that will channel the inflow of investments through these 51 MoUs are:

new investment in rajasthan

The investment chain doesn’t end here. Two days after the event, more MoUs worth 586.29 crores were signed for the Tourism Sector in the presence of Smt Krishnendra Kaur, State Minister of Tourism at Khasa Kothi, Jaipur. These particular partnerships will provide direct employment to 5392 people in the State. Speaking at the occasion the Smt Krishnendra Kaur said, “These MOUs were signed as a follow up to the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit organized in November last year. I am happy to announce that during and after Resurgent Rajasthan Summit we have signed a total of 221 MOUs worth Rs 10,407.94 crores which will create an expected employment to 40,765 persons in the State. The department will facilitate the projects to get the clearance or certification if required.” Principal Secretary Industries Smt. Veenu Gupta said we are vigorously following the projects signed to bring them on the ground”.

The efforts of CM Raje and her governance have started to show fruition with the image of Rajasthan receiving colossal boost over the last two years, resulting in more and more investors showing their faith and interest in the State. It is safe to say that Resurgent Rajasthan is the beginning of a huge new beginning for Rajasthan.
