Varun Dhawan expresses discontent over Dishoom banned in Pakistan

Recently, Bollywood has been suffering a lot be it through plagarism or bans etc. One after another, movies have been leaked on social websites bringing down the box office collections like Great Grand Masti, Udta Punjab, and Sultan etc. Also movies have been banned due to some or the other reasons. Now, in the same league a new movie has entered- Dishoom. The John Abraham and Varun Dhawan-starrer movie opened up on Friday, 29, july with a bang in India- all thanks to the stars and its high masala content.

However, Pakistan does not seem to be happy with this full-on entertainer and has reportedly banned Dishoom.

The movie, which also stars Nargis Fakhri and Jacqueline Fernandez, was released in India and worldwide on July 29, Friday, but as was assumed earlier, a ban has been declared on the movie in Pakistan. The movie talks about the 36 hour chase of the two handsome cops (Varun and John) to bring back an Indian Cricketer who gets absconded a couple of days before the final match against Pakistan in a series of Tournament.

On the news of Dishoom banned in Pakistan, Varun Dhawan aka Junaid Ansari of Dishoom is really upset. The actor took it to Twitter to express his discontent saying: “Really upset that #Dishoom is banned in pakistan. I don’t think the film eventually shows any country in a bad light. It’s a wrong decision.”

Varun clarified that Dishoom has nothing against Pakistan. The Pakistan board said that the film has shown the country Pakistan in a bad light.

Earlier too the actor said, “I would like to clear this. There is no negative reference against Pakistan or any community.” He explained, “It is a very positive representation. In fact, what we are trying to show is that for certain people money is their religion. It’s not being an Indian, Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim or Christian. In the capitalistic world that we live in, money is the biggest driving force for most crimes.”

The banning of Dishoom in Pakistan will certainly cause a loss for the film at the box office collections.

Earlier in an interview with a daily newspaper, Varun had expressed his desire to visit the country Pakistan one day to promote the movie.
“Hindi films are loved in Pakistan and he told me that they watch all our movies and hoped that I would visit Pakistan someday. I told him that I would definitely like to come. Just recently our Prime Minister too visited Pakistan. So if things become better one day, I would love to go and visit Pakistan,” Varun then said.
