The first woman Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel has posted her resignation on her official page linked to Twitter and Facebook. It was a much-anticipated move keeping the present situation of Gujarat in mind. The state, which is supposed to be the stronghold of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), is facing strong opposition from the Dalits due to the happening of the recent events. His exit has been anticipated for quite a long time so that the BJPs high command could define a path to repair the political damage in Gujarat right ahead of the assembly polls, scheduled for end-2017.

The party President, Amit Shah has called for a meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, in which the resignation of Anandiben Patel will be formally accepted. Thriving to this, the next and most crucial question for the date in the Indian Politics has emerged that “Who will succeed Anandiben Patel?”

It is assumed that the Party is likely to announce its BJP face for Gujarat in 2-3 days and the sources are saying that the party will surely keep the sentiments of Gujarat’s people in mind. This means that there is a huge probability that the successor will be from Gujarat itself.

But the only hurdle in the path is that he is a very hard working and convincing President and with the elections coming in three major states naming UP, Goa and Gujarat, will Narendra Modi be convinced on Amit Shah resigning from the President post and fighting Gujarat elections as a CM candidate? In the present scenario, it is Amit Shah who is the most powerful figure in the party after Narendra Modi. He had always been Anandiben’s contender in Gujarat’s BJP and still can be one who can handle the situation well will elections looming in Gujarat.

After Modi, Rupala was the most admired leader of BJP in Gujarat with a vast army of supporters. He belongs to the dominant Kadva Patel community of Saurashtra and still known to be connected to the roots of Gujarat.

Nitin Patel:

He is one politician who has both the required things in the criteria. Firstly, he is Gujarat’s Health and Family Welfare Minister and has more than two-decade experience in politics. Also, he has handled the finance portfolio very well. Secondly, he has a good rapport and relations with both Narendra Modi and RSS. He is an industrialist from Kadi and belongs to the Kadva Patel community of North Gujarat.

Vijay Rupani:

He is the State BJP President and an MLA from the Rajkot West seat since 2014. He is considered as the most non-controversial leader in Gujarat politics and his ability to handle the crisis situation from all the directions will play to his advantage during the selection of Anandiben’s successor.

The 52 year General Secretary of state BJP and one of the most powerful leaders in the Gujarat’s political scenario. He is not so popular in the outside circles of BJP. His origin is from RSS and often acts as a link between the Sangh and BJP. He is still working for Sangh and connected to his roots. He might prove a dark horse in this race.
