Letv – a Chinese MNC dealing in Internet and technology, predicts India as a ‘Great Internet Power’ in the years to come, the company has also indicated towards plan of investing in India, as part of contribution in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of ‘Digital India’.
Tin Mok, CEO, Letv for Asia Pacific region, in a press conference organized on launching of 120 inch TV said “We predict India as a great internet power in the coming five to ten years. India has a great influence on the world. We can make our contribution to Prime Minister Modi’s Digital India mission through cloud computing platforms.”
In the words of Tin India will have upper hand by year 2020, as average age of Indians will be 28 years on an average, whereas, it is much higher in China. The company is also planning to enter Indian market by 2016, partnering with local content providers of India.
However top officials of Letv admitted by saying that “The number of languages India has could be an obstacle for us to enter the market, but we shall overcome the problem with localized content provider and subtitles.”
Letv works on integrating ecosystem like content, sports, TV, phone, cars, internet and finance. The officials claim that, their US based competitor is very close in term of ecosystem, which needs to be disrupted in order to improve.
There have been lots of words in the International market for the company, which has recently launched next-gen Le 1s phone in China and it is also expected to launch an electric car in India and other overseas market.
The company said “We are likely to have a partner, who works on a traditional ways of manufacturing and would combine it with our ecosystem. But the car launch would be independent. We have started early stage negotiations with the Indian government and also an Indian brand.”
