Rumours were abuzz that Jio will be launching 4G feature phone at incredibly low prices. Well, with manufacturing details being divulged now, this news is apparently more than confirm now. Good for all Indians and we love it.
Now Jio has also announced that the free offer period will be extended from 31st March to an event later date. All Jio users relish this news, thereby urging all their relatives too to swap with Jio and take advantage of free benefits.
Reliance Industries has been in talks with Chinese and Taiwanese original device manufacturers (ODMs) partners, including Foxconn, to manufacture its Lyf branded 4G smartphones, smart set-top boxes, home automation and automobile telematics devices among others in India.
The big company, Foxconn is sourcing required products from formidable Chinese ODMs like ZTE, CK Telecom, Wingtech, and Tinno Mobile.
A close official informed, “It is a contract clause for these partners to locally make/assemble their devices over a period of time. Reliance has told everyone to do it.”
Another person familiar with Foxconn’s plans said the volumes for the Lyf phones are still under discussions. “Foxconn can be the number one partner for Jio, as nobody can match the scale that it has,” the person added.
Jio has all plans formulated to enter various varied markets. Some of them are smart camera, smart doorbell, smart lock and chime alarm.
Introduction of affordable devices is paramount to ensure that all or atleast majority of Indians get their hands on 4G mobile services offered by the group’s telecom company Reliance Jio.
