Google food order feature: The new and easy way to order food and book tables

Google food order feature:

How many times have you searched Google for restaurants and eating joints? Don’t remember right? We can understand because Google is the ultimate answer to every query of ours. It’s like our mother when we become a grown up. If your mom doesn’t know the answer, Google is there to tell you. Now knowing how badly we need it especially when it comes to looking for food and stuff, what Google has done is that from now onward we can order food or book a table for any number of people with the help of a new feature. This new Google food order feature by the tech giant enables you to get tables at your favorite restaurant right from the ‘search’ option itself. On its official blog, Google wrote, “From today, when people search for a nearby restaurant on their phone, they’ll see an option to ‘Place an order’ in the search results.”

This is made possible with a new tie up Google did with Zomato, Swiggy, Dineout and Bytplus. We all know Zomato is a food expert and gives you all information you need concerning restaurants and food they offer and Swiggy, Dineout and Bytplus are good options for delivery of food. Basically, Google has planned to make booking tables a bit easier for its users. Interestingly on some partner restaurants, an option to book a table will show directly from the search card.

How will this work out?

When you as a user will go and search for a restaurant on your smartphone, you will see two new options from now onwards. They are ‘Place an order’ and ‘Find a table’. Any time you will click on these two options, automatically you will be redirected to mobile websites of the next companies which will complete your request. Both Android and iOS users can use this new feature by Google.

Google blog post reads, “The new option to ‘Place an order’ will soon show in results across cities, and it plans to add more partners as well. So users must not panic if their favorite restaurant is not yet reflecting the option. Users can tap on the ‘place order’ option, and it shows a choice of either Zomato or Swiggy, and the results will take you to the respective website, where you can complete the order.

Not just this, the new feature will also help users plan their dine out a little easier too. User now can book a table at their favorite restaurant ahead of time. Google Search will direct users to partner sites to make their reservation.

In India, the food order option is an exciting addition by Google mainly because Zomato and Swiggy users can now unswervingly order from Google Search results, and the need to open individual apps every time would die out eventually.  But the question is how this new Google food order feature will impact the larger app economy.
